About the vacancy

In partnership with one of the global consulting enterprises, on a large-scale digital transformation program for a UK Telecommunication industry client, we are seeking experienced DevOps Engineers at both Lead and Senior levels (see level-specific requirements below). These roles are part of a large-scale digital transformation programme, building modern developer platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and observability solutions to improve engineering productivity and system reliability.

You will work closely with product managers, architects, and engineering leaders, building scalable AWS-based infrastructure, automating workflows, and shaping the future of developer experience.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Core (All Levels)

Design, build, and maintain scalable AWS-based infrastructure and internal developer platforms.
Create and manage Infrastructure as Code modules (Terraform, CloudFormation) and reusable delivery patterns.
Write automation tooling and utilities in Python, Bash, and other scripting languages to streamline workflows.
Design, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc.).
Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, etc.) for reliability and transparency.
Partner with developers, QA, and product teams to continuously improve the developer experience.
Ensure compliance with information security principles, including POLP and secure cloud practices.

Senior-Level Specific

Deliver scalable automation, monitoring, and infrastructure solutions across multiple squads.
Own API and event-driven workflow integrations to support platform reliability.
Troubleshoot and support production services, ensuring uptime and disaster recovery preparedness.
Mentor peers informally, contributing to best practice adoption.

Lead-Level Specific

Provide technical leadership for the Developer Tooling team, mentoring DevOps engineers and setting engineering standards.
Define and evolve the roadmap for internal developer tooling in alignment with business and technical goals.
Serve as an escalation point for complex infrastructure and automation challenges.
Partner with senior stakeholders across Product and Technology to influence cloud strategy and developer enablement initiatives.
Drive cross-functional initiatives, fostering collaboration across squads to reduce friction and improve productivity.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering roles.
Strong background in CI/CD automation and developer tooling (GitHub, Jira, Confluence, etc.).
Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Proficiency in Python, Bash, and automation scripting.
Advanced understanding of AWS services (additional Azure/GCP a plus).
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration.
Familiarity with observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog).
Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
(Lead only) Experience mentoring engineers, defining standards, and managing cross-functional DevOps initiatives.

Desirable

Experience designing and operating internal-facing developer products.
Knowledge of event-driven architectures and microservices environments.
Familiarity with GitHub Enterprise, Atlassian APIs, Slack bots.
Experience with BigQuery, analytics, or cost optimization strategies in cloud environments.
Solution architecture experience in large enterprises or complex product organisations.
